finding your magic no.3
the how to guides
your opportunity to connect
Being true to who you are will go a long way to reinforce your feelings of confidence and ‘je ne sais quoi’. Although many of you might agree with that statement, I am sure that at certain times in our lives we decided to do something that didn’t necessarily feel right, just to try to fit in better. Perhaps we thought that if we dressed a certain way, or acted in a certain way, or espoused the thoughts and beliefs of others, then we will be more popular/successful/interesting versions of ourselves. I am also sure that you found that this way of living is dispiriting, and at worst doomed to failure, and at best self-defeating.
When you can identify your magic and can find a way of dressing that really feels good and reflects who you are, then the clothes you wear can make you feel more powerful than you would do otherwise. As an individual, choosing the styles, grooming and make-up that suit you is absolutely a matter of taste. Your taste and your image offer you the opportunity to connect with the people around you in a way that enables you to tell a story that is truly yours.
If you like something, then your opinion is as valid as anyone else’s. Because, for all the fanfare and bright lights, taste, or supposed lack thereof, is just a difference of opinion. This isn’t to say that there aren’t things that are quite universally admired or not. However, on an individual level, without this natural divergence in what we are all drawn to, we would all be wearing the same clothes, driving the same cars, living in the same houses, and doing the same jobs. Embracing our differences is to be applauded and is easier when you are confident and comfortable in your personal choices.
